PostNord Finland installs outdoor parcel lockers

Logistics company PostNord Finland is rolling out an outdoor parcel locker network all over the country. The company will use SwipBox’s parcel lockers. Customers can use access the lockers 24/7 in convenient locations.

Ecommerce logistics company PostNord Finland has completed a pilot with SwipBox’s Infinity locker last spring. SwipBox launched this smart locker which is battery-driven and Bluetooth enabled last year. In that year, it also increased its total number of parcel lockers to 10,000.

‘Users found the outdoor app-operated lockers easy to use.’

According to both companies, the pilot proved that the parcel lockers can withstand weather conditions and that end users found the app-operated locker easy to use. PostNord Finland is now launching a network of outdoor parcel lockers all over the country, though it is unclear how many lockers will be installed exactly. The network complements the company’s existing service point network.

Flexibility Infinity locker

“With the success of our existing network in mind, it was natural for us to look to SwipBox for an outdoor solution that could provide increased convenience for our end users. Not only does an outdoor network allow us to offer 24/7 access in convenient locations. With Infinity we also get a parcel locker that is extremely flexible and can easily be moved around to meet changing needs in our network”, Johanna Starck, CEO of PostNord Finland, said.

‘PostNord Finland is considering opening up the network to other carriers.’

“At the end of the day, flexibility is one of the most important features in today’s market. If we do not meet customers’ needs, we will not have any business.” The new network is currently closed, but PostNord Finland says that it is considering opening it up to other carriers as well.

‘High satisfaction with app-operated locker’

According to SwipBox, the app-operated Infinity locker is an example of a solution that customers do not know they need. “Although we were confident that the Finnish end users would embrace this purely app-operated parcel locker, we are of course happy to see the high level of satisfaction with it”, said Kasper Cort, CCO of SwipBox. “We believe this is the way forward and are happy that customers agree.”
